The days may have become shorter and the nights colder but there’s still plenty of things to do in the Cultural District. For information about our current gallery exhibitions and signature series, check out our last blog and keep reading for more fun events happening this November and December.

Rebirth Brass Band, North Mississippi Allstars, and Cedric Burnside in Shake & Holla

Tue, Nov. 9, 2021 | 8:00 p.m. | Byham Theater

Shake & Holla is a brand-new tour that showcases foot-stomping Mississippi "hill country" blues and the funky, syncopated sounds of New Orleans brass. Touring together for the first time ever, the Grammy-nominated and Blues Music Award-winning North Mississippi Allstars will be joined by the legendary Rebirth Brass Band in a musical celebration of two great southern musical traditions. Also appearing with them is blues guitarist, vocalist, and drummer Cedric Burnside, a Grammy-nominated artist in his own right, as well as the grandson of legendary Fat Possum recording artist RL Burnside. For one special night, these three artists will be playing their own favorite selections as well as collaborating throughout the show on a grab bag of great songs, exploring the musical connection between the Mississippi Delta and Bourbon Street.

The Hip Hop Nutcracker

Directed and choreographed by Jennifer Weber, The Hip Hop Nutcracker, a contemporary dance spectacle set to Tchaikovsky’s timeless music. A unique and joyful event, this evening-length production is performed by a supercharged cast of a dozen all-star dancers, a DJ, a violinist, and one of hip hop’s founding fathers, MC Kurtis Blow, who opens the show with a short set.

First Night Pittsburgh

Returning live and in person, First Night Pittsburgh is completely free and open to the public for everyone to celebrate into the new year! We recently announced that this year’s Williams Sing-Off Competition at First Night will be judged by Special Guest Adam Pascal.
