Tony DePaolis has quickly become one of the most in-demand bassists in Pittsburgh. His supple, solid playing and working knowledge of many different styles of music has led to an intense schedule of performances in the area and in other regions in the US. Tony hails from a musical family that has been active in the local music scene since the mid-60s, and has enjoyed the great advantages of being a musical "trunk baby." In addition to many tours, recording dates and performances with notable local and national leaders, in late 2009 Tony also released his debut CD as a leader. Entitled "The Contemporary Dynamic," it is a 2-disc cross-section of the jazz scene and beyond of Pittsburgh, featuring 36 other fine musicians, from Joe Negri and Roger Humphries to Sean Jones and Gene Stovall — and back again.
