CARLOS SIMON: New Work Co-commission

MENDELSSOHN: Symphony No. 3, "Scottish"

About this Performance

Cellist Shaku Kanneh-Mason, who captured global attention at the 2018 royal wedding, takes the spotlight in Elgar's Cello Concerto, a work of deep lyricism and emotional resonance. The orchestra also presents the world premiere of a new work by Carlos Simon, a PSO commission honoring Coretta Scott King. The program concludes with Mendelssohn's "Scottish" Symphony, inspired by the rugged landscapes and folk traditions of Scotland.
